Lessons from Vince

The other day I was walking along reflecting on memories of my brother when I looked toward the sky and saw a flock of geese flying overhead in a perfect V formation and for a moment I thought "Vince", the V reminds me of Vince. Then I remembered a story I had read many years ago about geese and how they work together to support the flock .That gave me even more reason to reflect upon the life of Vince, my brother and protector.
As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
Vince knew the importance of teamwork and sticking together. Vince understood that by feeding the minds and heart of others his flight would be all that more fulfilling!
When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front of it.
The special thing about Vince is that he would find ways to make you feel like you were the most important person in his life. He always looked for the way and means to lift one up to a higher level of self worth. He created a humorous uplifting environment and helped each person soar in their own way!
When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.
We all learned something from Vince. Maybe you learned that the world can be a beautiful place if you take the time to look and share your day with another person. You may have learned that through making others happy you become happy yourself. Each of us had a special place in the world of Vince and as we all pull together we can branch out and become many leaders set in place to continue his vision.
Geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Boy, Vince sure did find ways to send messages of encouragement. Looking over his life I see all the positive things that he accomplished and they way he loved his family and friends truly leaves me breathless!
When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
During the last days of Vince's life I witnessed an entire flock of beautiful birds stand in sheer love and protection over this incredible man. We must now continue to stick together so that we can all fly again and perhaps realize in Vince's passing that we are all stronger inside than we can even imagine!
I love you Vince... Your Sister Julie
