Okinawa in 1978

The one thing I will always remember was a trip Vince and I made down to Okinawa in 1978. Of course in Japan we drove on the opposite side of the road and the cars chad the steering shell on the opposite side as well.. Anyway, we get to Okinawa and they had the Japanese cars but they were driving on the U.S. side. We had the hardest time trying to get use to that and had many close calls and found ourselves on the wrong side of the road several times. Another thing that stands out from that trip was when we arrived at the Air Force terminal around midnight for our flight we were told that it was delayed until 6am. We ended up sleeping in his car and we were so afraid that we would over sleep. We came up with the ingenious idea to put a cassette in his car stereo because it's auto eject didn't work right and it would make a high squealing sound when it tried to eject. So every 30 minutes or so as the side of the tape ended it would make that loud squeal. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep and we would start arguing about whose turn it was to reset the tape. To this day I remember what that tape was, Todd Rundgren's "Hermit of Mink Hollow" album, and every time I hear a song off that album I still think of that fun night. Now it will have a very special meaning for me and my memories of Vince.
